Abstract
This study was carried out to establish effective storage conditions, and to investigate the effect of the sprout status during the storage on the growth and yield of in vitro microtubers of Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Dejima. Microtubers stored at 10¡15¡É showed the most vigorous sprouts, and the effect of storage duration on the sprout growth and tuber yield was not found. In the field trials, microtubers with longer sprouts (below 80 §®) during storage had higher emergence ratio and better growth of plants and yield. The greening of microtubers treated over 5 days for 16 hours day length under 2,000 lx at 25¡É was very effective in the prolonging of shelf life of in vitro microtubers.
